# Genie opener with round light off, long light flashing red: the door hit something, or a door part has failed

Genie’s manual gives two meanings for these lights. Pick the one that matches what the door is doing.

## The door hit something and stopped

The door touched something on its way up or down.

**You can check this.** Clear the doorway and try again.

## The opener found a problem with the door itself

The opener has detected a failure in the door: a spring, a track, a roller, a hinge or a fitting.

**Call a pro.** Stop using the door and call a pro to check the springs and hardware.

Don’t lift or force the door by hand: if a spring is broken, the door can fall. Springs and cables are a pro’s job: DASMA, "Do not try to remove, repair or adjust springs or any door parts or mounting surfaces, such as wood blocks, steel brackets, cables or other like items. Because of potential dangers involved, all repairs and adjustments must be performed by a trained door systems technician using proper tools and instructions."
