Hi, I'm Margaret. Let's decode your garage door's RV value and why it matters. RV value measures thermal resistance. Higher numbers mean better insulation for your home. Non-inssulated doors are R0 to2, just a thin steel layer with minimal protection. Polyyrene bumps that to R4 to 7, adding a foam layer inside the panel. Polyurethane offers maximum efficiency R10 to 18 plus by filling every internal cavity. Thermal imagery shows the difference. Polyurethane keeps heat in. Uninsulated doors let it out. But even high R value panels are useless if your garage door seals are failing. Air leaks around edges lose more energy than the panels. Check your weather stripping.
