You heard a bang from the garage. Now the door won't go up. The opener hums, and the door stays put. The spring over the door does most of the lifting. When it breaks, the door is dead weight. Here is the one thing you can do. Look from the floor at the spring above the door. A broken one often shows a gap in the coil. Look, and do not touch. Do not press the button again. Do not try to lift it. Do not pull the red cord on a door that is partway up, because it can drop. Unplug the opener. Springs are a job for a trained technician, every time.
