Your garage door weather seal is the only thing standing between your home and the elements. Let's make sure you pick the right one. First, the U-shaped rubber bulb seal. It's the gold standard for most doors. Extremely durable and usually lasts 5 to 7 years. Then there's vinyl. It's a cheaper option, but here's the catch. It stiffens up significantly in the cold, which can break your seal. Finally, brush seals. These are great if your floor is uneven, but be warned, they don't stop drafts as effectively as solid rubber. My advice, if you live where it freezes, skip the vinyl. If your floor is flat, skip the brush. The rubber bulb is your safe default. For the full breakdown and more expert tips, head over to garagedorscience.com. Keep that garage tight.
