Genie opener with round light off, long light flashing red

Genie’s manual gives two meanings for these lights. Pick the one that matches what the door is doing.

The door hit something and stopped

You can check this

The door touched something on its way up or down.

What to do: Clear the doorway and try again.

The opener found a problem with the door itself

Call a pro

The opener has detected a failure in the door: a spring, a track, a roller, a hinge or a fitting.

What to do: Stop using the door and call a pro to check the springs and hardware.

Don’t lift or force the door by hand: if a spring is broken, the door can fall. Springs and cables are a pro’s job. DASMA
